Maria C. Fasano, architect-artist from Panama City, Panama utilized bamboo, rope, burlap and chicken fence wire to make. Our inaugural resident created a sculptural inquiry to divergent realities. Our contemporary daily forces vs. the ancient wisdom of sacred geometries. The installation exhibited at ArtsUP! Concepts in FATVillage. Maria's creative intervention examined... Where are we? Who do we serve? Which reality do we live?
"We all know that the universe is in perfect order since its birth...
...if the Architect can establish the relationship between building design and order of universe, the life of an individual can be healthier, less stressful, more creative and blissful. " an excerpt from Sthapatya Ved Building
Shawn hall 'bees in mind'
Putting native Bees In Mind is the key to my new experimental installation for ArtsUP! in Fort Lauderdale, FL
There are over 4000 species of native bees in North America alone, all imperiled. The non-native honeybee, which is also threatened, is what the majority of people think of when they think of bees. We are at a critical juncture for all bee species, with loss of habitat, parasites, widespread herbicide and pesticide use, viruses spread from trucked honeybees, and general lack of awareness about what native bees do and what they need. Bees and other pollinators are at the heart of our food system and when they collapse, as they currently are doing, our demise will eventually follow.
katherine davis 'peering through a human-shaped hole'
Exploring the role of algorithms in human-behavior. Doubt in-person and truth in big-data-spewed calculations of what is, or ought to be your reality and the human connection to devices creating a oneness, or being device-cradled by identity of self.
"Personalized, customized, just-my-size. Human -shaped hole is not a veil to look through at my-world or a hat to wear on my-head, not even a blindfold to cover my-eyes but a me-shaped hole cut into virtual reality that I may merge with the physical..." - Katherine Davis
